Montana Dreaming

Sioux Charley Lake, Nye, MT 18mm, f/7.1, 1/125s

You can have California…I’ll take Montana.  A couple years ago my wife and I enjoyed a 4-day weekend in Nye, MT with four other couples.  What a blast — I’ve been thinking about it a lot and can’t wait to do it again.  The hike up to Sioux Charley Lake on the Stillwater River is one of my favorite hikes.  The path winds up the canyon along the roaring river and leads to this crystal clear lake on the plateau.  If I’m not mistaken one can continue along the trails all the way into Yellowstone National Park.  Someday.

It wasn’t the best time of day for a picture but I took it anyway (it was about 2 in the afternoon).  It’s a great scene anytime.

  1. Montana is on the top of my list of places to visit here in the states. What a beautiful scene and capture. Great job!

    • Thanks, both of you Hines! I’ve driven through Montana (it’s gorgeous) a few times and have stayed in the Nye area a couple times — just awesome. Photographer’s dream too. My last trip was two years ago before I had any clue about how to really take pictures (still massively learning now of course) and I’m anxious to go back and give it another try!
